A land grab threatens to destroy the fading dynasty
Line of Events
When Lawson’s vast cattle station lacks an heir, rival factions in Australia see an opportunity to take over. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in places so remote they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen. Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, with special permission from the traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life working cattle station that is so large it has its own airfield and school.
Which could make for a lovely stage drama
There are shows you can start watching and I have high hopes. This show is about a family who own a huge amount of land in the Oz outback. Sadly, the land and its charisma are ruined by extremely poor scriptwriting.
There is too much crime and drama, which is, again, poorly written
It’s very dramatic, has characters that border on caricature, and too much totally unbelievable stuff happens. Whereas as a viewer you want to be swept away by a story about a family that has deep and complex characters. They try, but the characters fail to form a family that you relate to.
But that’s about it
Apparently people are constantly shooting, robbing, and hurting each other in the great lands of Australia. So I really wanted to like this, but the writers made this a second-rate crime show that despite some great actors doesn’t deserve a high rating, however I will hold out hope for a second season if they tone down the drama and violence a lot and let some smart people write. There is a foundation with the setting and a good cast that they can build on.
