I saw this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival
I don’t see Peruvian films very often, as Peruvian cinema is quite rare. As one of the few Peruvian films I’ve seen, this one is very good.
The camerawork is very good throughout, along with the production designs, setting, and presentation used
Filmmaker Klaudia Reynicke definitely takes a personal and interesting look at the family dynamic between a father and daughter, and the dynamic is well done, with good performances, strong direction, and some pretty good moments of dialogue. The narrative is simple, and while predictable and slightly cheesy, the emotional core, direction, and good performances help keep the story interesting.
Overall, this is a good warm and sweet film
Including some interesting insights into the political turmoil of Peru and the dynamic relationships between father and children.
