Old 1/35 scale Italeri Puma kit, modified - Part 1 of 4
I first built this particular model as a teenager in 1981, trying to base it on a Bundesarchiv photo of a Sd.Kfz.234/2 numbered "111", belonging to Pz-A.A.2 (2. Panzer-Division opposing the Allied landings in Normandy), which was first widely published in the 1972 Squadron Signal book, Panzerspähwagen in Action, by Uwe Feist and Mike Dario. www.librarything.com/work/6130922 Back then I was mainly a braille scale modeller (ie 1/76- 1/72 scale), so this Italeri Puma was only my second attempt at building a 1/35 scale kit (the first was the old original motorised Tamiya Kingtiger). Being a fairly straightforward Italeri kit, all went reasonably well, until I attempted for the first time to brush on the then new and novel Tamiya acrylic paints without testing out their claims properly.
