In April 2008, medical scientist Ciaran Dunne survived a bleed from a cluster of abnormal blood vessels in his brain called a cavernoma. Lucky to survive the bleed, and the following neurosurgery to remove his cavernoma, Ciaran set about making a recovery with characteristic persistence and determination. As part of his journey, he followed a recommendation from health professionals and documented his experience. The resulting article is a remarkable account of his treatment and progress through rehabilitation and contains useful advice and tips for others who experience this rare condition.
