Let’s say you’re reading these reviews and haven’t watched Game of Thrones yet, but now that it’s over, you’re thinking about a marathon. In this case, the consensus is correct and it is: Seasons 1-6: Outstanding. Deep world-building, clever dialogue, epic Hollywood-worthy scenery, professional acting, detailed plot, genuine surprises, great soundtrack, used sparingly.
“Game of Thrones” is definitely worth watching in these seasons
Season 7: You suddenly notice that the quality of the script and plot has dropped sharply. There are inexplicable ideas, inconsistent characterizations and soap opera drama. But at least the entertainment value is still very high, so it gets a pass. Season 8: This flop sinks to depths you didn’t think possible.
Fatal for fiction
The script has become so amateurish that the still-fantastic production values can no longer save it. If you’ve ever enjoyed “Survivor” but were shocked by how bad the last season was, you’re in familiar territory. The biggest problem with the last season was that it took us out of the story and made us think about his many weaknesses. We have lost our suspension of disbelief.
But it’s not the best series of all time
It also ruined the series arc to such an extent that rewatching the entire series is pointless. So, can I recommend a Game of Thrones marathon for beginners? Yes, the first 6 seasons are worth the disappointments that will follow.
