Deadpool is offered a spot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the Time Diversion Authority, but instead recruits a variant of Wolverine to save his universe from extinction. He later stated that he regretted this statement after watching the first Deadpool film and expressed to Ryan his interest in seeing the two characters meet on the big screen. When asked why he decided to return for this film, he simply replied, “I just wanted to do it, and I felt it in my gut,” adding that he wanted to have the time of his life on a film set with Ryan Reynolds. Similarly, Reynolds had wanted to work alongside Jackman since the first Deadpool film and was saddened when he (Jackman) stepped down from the role. As Wolverine and Deadpool make their odyssey in the Honda Odyssey, the clock in the car jumps forward three hours during their odyssey.

It’s not perfect, but it’s still pretty fun
Lately, there’s been a temptation to dismiss less-than-perfect movies as disappointments, and I hope that’s not the case here. A Deadpool and Wolverine team-up has been rumored since 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie disaster. The goal of the movie is to strike a balance between being accessible to casual viewers while also satisfying die-hard fans of the characters. However, the movie also faces the challenge of navigating the intricate and complex web of continuity that exists within the Marvel Universe. With nearly 50 (!) movies in its continuity (not counting the TV shows and Sony movies), the Deadpool and Wolverine movie had to carefully thread the needle to ensure it respected established lore while still providing a fresh and interesting story.

Despite the potential baggage of their vast continuity, Deadpool and Wolverine work independently. The final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” runs on its own. is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
